Dennis Deruelle, MD, FHM

Dr. Dennis Deruelle is a nationally recognized physician executive, policy advisor, and healthcare innovator dedicated to reshaping the future of medicine. A board-certified internist and Fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine, Dr. Deruelle has spent more than two decades leading transformational change across hospital systems, startups, and national health initiatives.

After earning his medical degree and completing residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill—where he was honored to serve as Chief Resident—Dr. Deruelle quickly emerged as a leader at the intersection of hospital medicine, health policy, and innovation. From founding a boutique consulting firm focused on value-based care and technology, to serving as Chief Medical Officer for multi-state clinical networks, he has demonstrated a rare ability to translate visionary thinking into real-world outcomes. As National Medical Director and VP at TeamHealth, he launched and led a $120 million bundled payment program that achieved a 14% average savings rate, and drove performance turnarounds across more than 150 practice sites.

A trusted voice on healthcare reform, Dr. Deruelle has served as policy director for a presidential campaign and is a sought-after media contributor featured on Fox Business, SiriusXM, and in national health publications. His books, Your Healthcare Playbook and Two-Minute Warning, empower patients and policymakers alike to navigate a changing medical landscape.

Passionate about care quality, innovation, and health equity, Dr. Deruelle co-founded the International Post-Acute Wound Care Society and led a COVID-19 task force that achieved mortality rates 50% below national benchmarks. Whether treating patients, mentoring clinicians, or influencing national policy, he brings relentless curiosity, compassion, and a belief that healthcare can—and must—work better for everyone.

When he's not driving change in healthcare, Dr. Deruelle finds connection and purpose through

music as a singer-songwriter in Nashville—reminding us that healing comes in many forms.
